Killed for Kali

from Sploid

Deep in India's remote, lawless Uttar Pradesh, the vengeful goddess Kali the Destroyer is feeding on a rich diet of
sacrificial human flesh.

Dozens of innocents have been slaughtered in recent months by the blood-crazed "holy men" who worship the multi-armed destroyer deity.

The grim ceremonies are happening in a terrible little backwater called Khurja, a eight-hour drive from Delhi.

Kali's murderous priests promise good fortune for those who take part in the horrific sacrifices, usually starting with animals and then moving on to the ritual mutilation and murder of little children.

"Ten days ago Sumitra and her two sons crept to their neighbour's home and abducted three-year-old Aakash Singh as he slept,"
the Observer reported Sunday.

"They dragged him into their home and the eldest son performed a puja ceremony, reciting a mantra and waving incense. Sumitra smeared sandalwood paste and globules of ghee over the terrified child's body. The two men then used a knife to slice off the child's nose, ears and hands before laying him, bleeding, in front of Kali's image."

Some of the villagers have been caught and jailed, but the tantrik priests themselves seem to disappear.

A British reporter trying to reach the scene of the horror was warned off by residents of the nearest town: "Don't go. It is an evil place. The people there are cursed."

The child sacrifices are
occasionally uncovered in other remote villages, too.

The English word "thug" comes from the Kali worshippers known as the
Thuggee. This criminal cult operated for some 500 years, murdering travelers in attempts to keep their horrible goddess from returning to Earth.

I bet she stretches out all her sweaters. No wonder she's so cranky.

You really ought to do more research before you write crap like that.
Kali isi'nt a child eating flesh consuming maniac. Shes a goddess revered by all of India and not some jungle in Uttar Pradesh.
Just because some lunatics sacrificed children at her altar doesnt make her demonic.
Why, christian conquistidors killed millions of aztec men women and children.
Read wikipedia for more info on Kali.
If I sacrificed a goat before a church, it doesnt mean Christ is a blood sucker.
Get your facts straight, before you write more crap!!

I agree with Vyazz.

Kali does not require human sacrifice. The Kalika Purana mentions it, yes; but it also mentions that no more than a single person be offered within a 1,000 year period.

I am inclined to believe myself that that passage was written to actually *discourage* people from doing such; that if human sacrifice was really something Kali wanted, it would be prescribed to be done regularly. Human sacrifice is something humans do *themselves* in order to try and gain a God's favour...it generally isn't something which the God actually wants. As Jesus said, "I desire mercy, not sacrifice."

The single main reason why articles like this anger me, is because they potentially alienate people from Mother who might otherwise actually draw closer to her. Kali has been the single most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me...and while I am *not* evangelical, I do not appreciate people who try to actively try to drive others away from her.

This account of Goddess Kali is downright blasphemous. Please try to do some more research before you pass off the actions of a few fringe lunatics as that of the mainstream.
