Fake Priest Duped Churches for Months

from WFMY

Vienna, Austria - A Roman Catholic diocese in Austria is trying to determine how a German man passed himself off as a priest for three months before being exposed as a fraud.

Austrian media say the bogus priest presided over a funeral, celebrated Sunday Mass, and performed other duties as an assistant.

Officials at the Diocese of Linz say the German man claimed to have had 20 years of experience in the priesthood when he arrived in September and offered to help pastors in two towns, including one who was on a leave of absence. They say he initially was accepted because he had a firm grasp of church liturgy and the Bible. He since has returned to Germany.

Church officials say the fake priest doesn't appear to have committed any crime.

Question for the kids - If a baby is baptised by a fake priest and then dies, where does it go? Surely, not to heaven, at least not till the Vatican decides where to send it.

Can they get back to you on that? The Vatican is currently in the process of renovating the Afterlife, beginning with that tired eyesore Limbo.

For Fake Baptism Babies, they're thinking of something neo-classic, maybe purple, overhead lighting, a few withered plants. But they'll let you know. The pope is going through swatches as we speak. He keeps shouting "Fabulous!" so that's a good sign.

In the meantime, for God's sake, don't kill your baby!

I think overhead may be a mistake. Recessed has much more the right, relaxed yet somewhat foreboding feel, I think. And, don't forget what happens to all superstitions when exposed to harsh light! Or was that to water, I can't remember.

Duly! Noted! We can't have all our Saints evaporating with the first dawn, can we? Just shot B16 an email with your idea; he fired back "wicked good point!"
