It might not rank up there with the parting of the Red Sea or the loaves and the fishes. But a 4-foot-high pile of snow showed up outside a Providence church Sunday, right in the middle of August.
"Maybe it's a Unitarian miracle," church member Al McGinn joked as he stood next to the melting mound outside the First Unitarian Church of Providence.
Unitarians place a strong emphasis on rationality, McGinn said, so the consensus seemed to be that a nearby ice rink must have dumped the pile there overnight. "But you tend to have a variety of interpretations in this church," he said. "So interpret it any way you wish."
